USAREUR Practice Exam Prep: Comprehensive Practice Test & Questions

When approaching a school bus that has come to a stop in a housing area controlled by U.S. Forces, drivers are required to stop and not proceed until the bus starts moving again. This requirement is in place to ensure the safety of children who may be boarding or disembarking from the bus. The law emphasizes that stopping is crucial, as it protects vulnerable pedestrians, particularly younger children, who may not be fully aware of their surroundings and may suddenly enter the roadway.

In many jurisdictions, including areas under U.S. Forces control, the law mandates this level of caution when dealing with stopped school buses. Such careful measures aim to prevent accidents and promote safety around school buses, which are recognized as areas of heightened risk due to the presence of children.
